I am taking a summer course in biological anthropology and I am having a really hard time!! anyone HELP?

I have never studied genes, DNA, chromosomes etc. I am feeling so overwhelmed! could anyone give me any words of encouragement or maybe some web sources that might help me out? Any help would be so awesome!
