I am taking an education class and need ideas to observe middle school aged children this summer.?

I do not know any teachers and most schools are not in session. I am looking for ideas such as story time at the library but suitible for middle school aged children. Please provide suggestions on how to get approval for these observations. Will gladly give 10 pts for the most informative answer.

Have you thought about contacting a summer camp?  Contact your city's Parks and Rec programme and ask them if this would be possible.

Most school districts do have summer school classes that you may be able to observe. I had to do some of my observations during the summer and this is what I did. Contact your local district's offices and they should be able to point you in the right direction. Most will be more than willing to let you come in and observe. If your school district's summer school has completed, try a nearby one or contact your local community center. Many of them offer summer courses in art, music, dance, etc. that you may be able to observe. They may ask for some kind of documentation from your school, but other than that you shouldn't have any trouble.
