I am terrified of flying; however I need to make a 14hr. trip to Japan later on this year. I wasn't really all that scared until I experienced a very turbulant international flight two years ago. I was sitting in the very rear of the plane, and it felt as though the plane was going to drop! Please talk some sense into me so that I can overcome this phobia!

  1. well suggestion is to feel relax in the plane and try to listen to a relax music or try to sleep off in the plane. try to gain more confidence by going on short trips around places. it all depends how many people on the flight try not to be on the flight when there is kids yelling and screaming because that will put your confidence and concentration off. every time you go on the flight record down how you went and set a goal and would be ac hived by going on the plane. by then you will not have any hassles on going any flight.

  2. I have flown many times and i have had only one fllight that gave me any concern and that was a flight from the UK to Florida in March this year, like yours it was a very turbulent flight and it was not a pleasant experience and i was was glad to get back on the ground safely. In three weeks time i will be taking my first fllight since then, only a short two and a half hour flight to Spain , but i am not going to let one bad experience put me off flying or to let it spoil any future holidays .

  3. Just get yourself so pissed that you dont know what is going on.

  4. Practice sleeping sitting up.  Get some music that you are really comfortable sleeping to.  Play that music every night between now and the time you leave.  Take that music with you on the plane and try to get to sleep with the music playing before the plane even leaves the ground.  The more you sleep through a flight the faster it goes.  This method worked for me going to Italy.

  5. hey its ok, i have a fear of flying too. usually i bring something to take my mind off of it. chewing gum helps aton. a book, your mp3 player, and a few good magizines helps gets my mind off of it. if someones going with you, its always good to talk to them on the plane, and also hold their hand if things get rough :). the truth is its very rare that anything will happen in a plane. hope this helps!
