I am testing next month for a communications officer. I was told it is most closely like a 911 dispatcher...?

That mapping, typing, reading comprehension will mostly be on the written test. Does anyone know of a good website I can study from, or have expierience with the PD that can ref some good material?

  1. If you go to your states web site and look up the position you are testing for it might be a bit better but here's a site that might work.

If your position as "Communications officer" is at a 911 center then that's exactly what you'll be doing--dispatching police, fire and EMS units, and answering 911 calls.  To be honest there is nothing you can study for to prepare you for testing for this position.  Prior experience is really the only thing that can help in this case.

    Your training will be anywhere from 3-12 months depending on the agency assumng you get hired.  

    So just prepare for the test day by eating a good breakfast and getting plenty of sleep the night before.
