I am the owner of several groups. I tried to add a link on one homepage from a sister site and it did not go?

I want to add a link from one of the groups I own to a sister group. I cut and pasted the web addie into the description and it would not show as a link. It was black like the rest of the wording and you could not click it.

Click promote left column of  one group and then copy the HTML codes you see there and paste them just below  the blah blah  blah of the welcome message  in the other group.   Double space after pasting.
