  1. You could take down small deer at close ranges with a well placed shot. The 5.7 x 28 mm cartridge is smaller the .223/5.56 x 45 mm round, but the bullet is less powerful and would only be effective on small deer from less than 50 yards. If you plan to shoot deer, do not use full metal jacket ammo as it will not expand as much when it penetrates into the deer. If you plan to use a small cartridge for hunting, always use soft point hunting ammunition, preferably from Remington and other American made brands.

  2. well you'll kill anything with a head shot, but it really depends on the distance, bullet weight, and the amount of powder in the bullet casing. if you are 80 yards out, that's a near impossible shot with a pistol or a pellet gun, but is as easy as butter for a .22 or any other rifle. you can kill a bear with a .22 it just all depends on the conditions listed above. if you shoot a deer with a .22 through the heart he's gonna go alot farther than if you shot it with a .30-06, simply because the bullet is smaller causing less damage.

  3. 5.7x28 is  on par with a .22 hornet, a varmint  round

Not really big enough to consistently take deer effectively and ethically

Besides the fact that if it does not come with a five round mag it would be illegal to hunt with in most states

  4. With out the Military/Law Enforcement only ammo the 5.7x28 is more or less a .22 magnum.  Any critter under 40lbs is viable.  IIRC Hornady or another company loaded Hornady V-max in the 5.7x28 making it a good varmint round.

  5. Most likely you wont be able to take down much with a heart shot with that kind of round. The 5.7 isn't really designed to mushroom on impact, it's more likely to just punch a hole straight through. For hunting, especially deer, you want something that is going to mushroom well on impact so it will create more hemorrhaging so it will down the animal faster and more humanely. If it punches straight through it means that more often than not your going to be tracking the animal and it will suffer more. I would say you could use it for groundhog or small game but I wouldn't recommend it for hunting anything bigger.

  6. I would consider something else for even small deer-sized game or larger. Smaller stuff would be fine, though. Not sure if they make five round mags for the PS-90.
