  1. If a single shot is what you want then consider the H&R (Harrington & Richardson)..... I own an H&R rifle and can say it has given me excellent service with decent accuracy and NO mechanical problems......  I must admit I dont know too much about the Rossi's except to say I have heard a few complaints about the trigger assembly's breaking.... 2 Guys at the gun club own then and have told me they are very accurate but have had to have there Rossi rifles serviced.....

  2. I was gonna post this same question, or rather a question much like it. I was discerning whether to go with H&R or Rossi. After consulting a knowledgeable friend of mine, I decided to go with H&R due to the fact that I would get more bang for buck, or at least more bang for negligible buck increase, such as better fit and finish. H&R also has a better barrel combo program: http://www.hr1871.com/Support/accessoryP...

  3. I owned one and sold it.  The Rossi has a 1 in 12 barrel twist so it doesn't shoot the heavy bullets well.  Even when going from a 45 to a 55 grain shell, the point of impact changes significantly.  I also concur that the trigger is horribly heavy.     If you find one really cheap and you are not going to shoot anything over a 55 grain and can live with the trigger, they are decent guns.  If you can afford it, step up to the H&R with a 1 in 9 twist if you can find it.

  4. If I want to get a single shot, I'd get one of those NEF or H&R's instead. Rossi rifles aren't that bad but you can't get barrels in other calibers like NEF or H&R. Rossi rifles are capable of fairly good accuracy once you get past their heavy trigger pull. (Meaning: A trigger job is probably necessary if you want to enjoy the rifle's full accuracy potential.)
