I am thinking about buying a Trek 4300 for a starter mountain bike. Any comments would be helpful. Can anyone give me any information about this bike?

  1. Trek models appear to vary from one country to another, and obviously from one year to the next. Best to go to their website, and it will display details of the models available in your region. Trek make good bikes, and even the bikes at the lower end of their range are good quality. If you are happy that it will meet your needs, and motivates you to ride it, then go for it.

    There is a lot to be said for getting a relatively basic bike to start with, and improve you skill and fitness on that. When you've been mountain biking for a while, you'll have a much better idea of what sort of bike you want to move up to. Many people buy a full suspension bike, and they will either get discouraged by the weight and bounciness of it, or they will use it to soak up all their bad riding habits. You will get a lot more out of your riding if you perfect your weight transfer and cadence first. Happy riding!
