I am thinking about buying a boat in the uk, what do i need to have before and once i have bought one?

details about, tax, moorings and all thats connected to be able to put the boat on the water, keep it somewhere and use it legally.

  1. The UK is very liberal and so you do not require anything.  Certain harbors may insist (using by-laws and rules) that you have insurance and, possibly, RYA qualifications.  You would be wise to be insured anyway as it is quite cheap (for most small boats).  You can use a trailer and launch for free (some sites), or rent a mooring.   The cheapest moorings are drying - the most expensive are pontoons.  Ask your local council they often have moorings.
