I am thinking about getting a scooter. The thing is that I work 17 miles away from work. Is it worth it?

Bikes are better than scooters for distances that long (imagine to-and-fro 17 miles every day). Even a small Honda car should work out fine over the long run.

Oh dear, NO. Not on a scooter! Get yourself a bus or train pass, pronto. I only imagine that one day your poor scooter would turn to you and beg that you just let it die peacefully. Do you dig what I'm saying?

If you travel down the free-way, a scooter is terrible--and I think they're illegal to operate on a multi-lane highway in some loacles. Frankly, you'd be better off with a small car.

Given today's gas prices, i don't think so. Maybe consider riding a bike, at least, it's exercise. Rather, you might also consider getting your work closer to home or home closer to work whichever applies.

If you get a car, at 17 miles that would be about 2 gallons per day (or about $8 per day).  So at most you would save $8 per day (MAX).

So no it would NOT be worth the extra cost of getting a scooter.

it all depends on your preference. I purchased a touring scooter from http://xtrememinimotors.com. It had a windshield and is legal on all highways. The price is also comparable with most 50cc scooters so it is defff worth check out. Hope this helps.

Hey Curious;  I am with you.  I believe for now a scooter is the best bet.  I am also thinking about getting one.  I have been checking them out on the internet with different companies.  I have seen them from $600 and up.  Before I make my final decision, I will check with the BBB first.  Also, I think you should maybe move closer to work, ok?  Get your scooter and save some money.
