I have never had an Ipod (I know, I'm behind the times!) and I'm not sure what kind to get or what size memory or anything like that--so yes, I'm definitely a newbie at this. I have approximately 600 songs on my ITunes list right now, and I add probably 5 or so a month on average. I would use the device at home, in the car, waiting for appointments and things like that--I wouldn't use it while working out, for example.

I would love to get recommendations as to what style/size i should get from those of you who are more familiar. Thanks so much for your help.

  1. It really depends on how much you can afford. If you like to watch videos as well, TV shows and such, and maybe play a game, that's important too. the iPod Nano and Classic are both great to start with; the Classic has more room for video and shows of course. I really like the Touch version though because you can just have everything on it though it's a bit expensive and you constantly have to recharge it. Good luck!

  2. if you have the money i definitely suggest getting a ipod touch possibly an 8gb if you don't have many songs. there's so many more features then just an ipod. maps, stocks, notes, games, the list goes on. but if not possibly a nano of some description?

  3. if you only want music, take the ipod nano 4GB

music and video, Ipod nano-video 8GB

if you're looking for internet, youtube, music and video and much more,

    Ipod touch 8GB

if you want all of the above with calling  iPhone 3G

  4. get a 30gb or bigger. Also, get the audio video cable because it's a really sweet cable that connects it to the vhs and lets you listen and watch everything through the tv. And get the cassette that allows you to hook your ipod to any cassette player. Also, get an avi or mp4 dvd to pc converter. This is an easier way to put movies on.

  5. ipod shuffle 49$ ~ 69$ ( 240 ~ 500 songs)

    small, lightweight, compact.

available in a variety of colours.

great for people on a budget.

no extra features other then music,

    ipod nano 149$ ~ 199$ (1000 ~ 2000 songs)

    small and lightweight.

colours only available if you buy 8gig.

    2 inch screen

    can play videos as well.

    ipod classic 249$ ~ 349$ (20000 ~ 40000 songs)

has an amazing amount of space.

colours available are black and silver.

    2.5 inch screen

    somewhat chunky/bulky

    ipod touch 299$ ~ 499$ (1000 ~ 7000 songs)

    touch screen

available in black only at the moment.

    3.5 inch screen

    thin and lightweight as well.

more expensive then most mp3 players.

the ipod shuffle is for someone who only wants music and is somewhat on a budget. great for people who work out/run because there is a built in clip. the tedious thing about it is if you're looking for a song, you will have to skip through your entire library until you find it.

ipod nano has a screen with great user-interface. this is for people who have a movie or a few short clips. the screen is a little small for viewing movies in my opinion but for holding songs, it's great!.

need some extra space? watch tons of movies? then the classic is right for you. with a 2.5 inch screen and up to 160gigs of space, this little thing can hold your entire media library! the only problem i find with it is the size.

ipod touch has the 3.5inch touch screen and allows you to surf the web and buy music using wifi. it can be customized to your liking and with the new app store, you'll be on it 24/7. this is a very delicate ipod and is expensive.
