play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find colors that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. I think a "suitable brown" (# 7054) might look terrific.

taupe and paint your furniture black, also get a curtain with purple and taupe in it and comforter.

If you are into modern style and daring, Yellow suits you best. It complements purple. It's a fact, based on the color wheel.

Your choices might vary though. If it's a darker shade, yellow is better. But if it's lighter purple, then I'd prefer lime/yellow green.

If you're conservative and laid-back, you might go for and experiment with different hues of Blue.
