  1. that you would be changing your life and creating an existence that is about the love, caring, and acceptance of a person that will be completely dependent on you.

  2. The first thing you & your spouse will need to realize is that you cannot have a child, biological or adopted, whole or disabled in some way, and remain selfish (as we all are).  To become parents means putting your needs in a secondary position to the needs of your child.  This doesn't need giving them everything they want or not having any sort of life.  It simply means that, when your child's need comes against your want, the child's need should always win out.

Meeting their needs will sometimes mean saying "NO!".  Everything they want is not everything that is good for them.

You can never love a child too much.  You might dote on them too much, but you can never love them too much.

In the case of a disabled child, you need to consider what you & your spouse will be required to do daily to care for your child.  If the disability is relatively mild, like Down's Syndrome, the needs are different than if you have child with Cerebral Palsy.

  3. Google Qld adoption and you will access the Queensland Government Adoption Info but it is not a easy or simple process, due to government red tape relating to adoption, etc I am looking at surrogacy which is not legal in my current state SA nor Qld where I am moving too, so it will all be carried out in the ACT. Good Luck!
