I am wondering what the content of the Criminal Justice Exam is, the one that you have to take before you can interview for the job. Also, what is the day to day job like? What types of offenders does a probation officer deal with, i.e., mostly misdemeanor offenders? How many cases do you manage at a time? Is it interesting dealing with the judges? How often do you have to visit an offender at their home? I have a B.A. in Psychology, and I am very interested in this line of work and in helping people re-assimilate into society. I know that the recidivism rate is very high. How do you think probation officers can help reduce this; or can they? Sorry if this is too many questions! Thanks in advance for reading this and for any input!
