My aunt told me to wait until next year for when i turn 18. My mom passed away a couple of years ago. But on my ankle i would like to get a Rosary with her Name *Mary* In purple...Because purple was her favorite color. What do you think?

  1. It's a lovely idea, and you've put thought into it, which is great.

Honestly, the ankle and feet areas hurt. There's not a lot of padding, and can get pretty uncomfortable, but just breathe through it, the end result will be worth it.

I agree with your aunt though. When you're under 18,  many reputable tattooists will not work  on you, unless you have parental/guardian permission. And the ones who will, well, they're not so good.

Also it will give you time to add any additional details, get the design sorted out so you're completely happy with it, and to sort out the placing.

    Good luck with it!

eta- Being a plus size girl doesn't matter! I'm a plus size girl! Put it where you want it, where you think it will look best. Foot/ankle tattoos look extremely pretty, dainty, and feminine if done with a fine needle. If you're not so sure about the foot, there's pleanty of other places to put it. Get a friend to draw a couple on you in a few places, see what looks best, and if you don't like it, at least it's not permanent :P

  2. To answer all your questions...

    I have four tattoos- I'm 18.

I waited TILL I turned 18 to get a tattoo... you see when I was 15 years old i wanted a tattoo so bad i could taste it... I begged my dad to let me get something that meant a lot to me- it defined who i was, what i cared about, what i was passionate about...

    Now i hate the idea.

I absolutely hate that tattoo design now.

I'm glad my dad made me wait till i turned 18, and i know now that i'm going to make my children if i have them wait until they turn 18.

    next question...

I have a tattoo on each of my feet. and maybe this is why i think this but i think tatts on the top of your feet look better than ones on people's ankles...

    BUTTTTT

Foot tattoos hurt pretty darn bad...

but you can do it.  If i can do it you can do it.  I have seen though people freak the HECK out when they were getting a foot tattoo and then end up passing out or people have to hold them down *litterally saw a girl have to be held down by three grown men because she thought it hurt so bad*...

    but they look great...

I SAY- wait till your 18.  Draw out your design constantly, make it mean so much more to you by waiting till your 18 .  and get it on top of your foot if you can handle it.

    good luck girl!

  3. I don't like the idea on your foot, or ankle, but it's your body.

And yes, foot tattoos do tend to be more painful, but you shouldn't worry about it, because if you loved your mom enough to get a tattoo for her, you probably love her enough to suffer through it too.

  4. I think it is a very nice gesture for your mother. But just keep in mind would she want you to get a tattoo at seventeen? In this case, I think you should follow what you think she would have wanted you to do. It will hurt, and just make sure you wont regret it when your 80 years old and saggy.

  5. Hmm... That's a tough one. I would probably wait until you're 18. I think it's a wonderful idea, and it will make a great memorial. Like the person above me said, I have heard that getting foot tattoos hurts more than other places (but the ribs hurts the worst). I watch LA Ink a lot. I would recommend getting one like Nicole Richie did around her ankle:

That way it goes around your ankle and down your foot, so it's like a combo of the two. I think that would look really good.

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother.

    I hope this helps!

  6. I am sorry about the loss of your mother.

I think getting a tattoo for her is a wonderful idea, and the rosary with her name in purple sounds like a good choice. But I am with your aunt about waiting until you are at least 18. Let your body grow to adulthood 1st, so that your tattoo will look it's best, and hold it's shape.

Also, foot tattoos are pretty painful, but pretty. But read some of these link thoughts and info. before deciding placement: http://tattoo.about.com/sitesearch.htm?t...

My friend just got a top of the foot small black and gray (only took 10 - 15 min.s), and she said that she could hardly stand the pain. So, be warned.

You might want to take the time before you are 18 to consider other ideas and placements too http://images.google.com/images?gbv=2&hl...

http://www.vanishingtattoo.com/tattoos_d... over the heart can be good for an important and personal image, Flowers are always a good choice because of their beauty and timelessness and variety of colors and shapes http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=... , also, a quote about her or possibly from her - like an endearment that she always called you, or something that she always said.

So, take your time, .. she won't mind, and in the meantime, relax, and maybe thinking about her and the tattoo will be a good thing for you to do.

Take your time, you will make all the right choices.

I apologize for adding this to your answer, but I feel that I must:

To all those people who keep spouting out the 'old and wrinkly' stuff:

Could you just stop it. You don't know what your talking about. You are just saying this because you are very young, and maybe are afraid of growing older, or afraid of making decisions that you have no idea how you will feel about later as an adult. Do you think an old wrinkly, liver spotted person, really looks better than the same person with body art? That's ridiculous. People can get tattoos at all ages, throughout their lives, they can also maintain the ones that they have, and can get touch ups. The question was about an ankle tattoo, this isn't a notoriously bad spot for wrinkling. And before saying such nonsense, you should actually find people older than 20 and talk to them. Maybe even a 50yr old or an 80 yr old with tattoos. You just might find them pretty interesting.
