but i am claustrphobic and i also am too scared to wear a bottle on my back cos i have a hump and i worry it will rub on it.could i use a battery operated air pump from my fish tank because it is small and could fit in my pocket?my mum thinks it wont work i think it will if i could make the pump water proof.do you think a plastic bag or sandwich box will keep it dry.i cant use anything bigger or it wont go in my pocket and i am back to the hump problem.is it safe to deep sea dive with a bent spine my lungs are only a bit squashed.

  1. LOL!

I'm amazed people have answered this question seriously given your user name.

The pump sounds excellent though I'd use a zip=lock bag to seal it against the water. Make sure the tube you insert up your nose from the pump is both sealed around the nostril and also the right bore to give you enough air ech time you snort.

  2. Omd!  No!  Don't use anything that a profesional store doesn't say is ok!  I'm sure ye aren't the only one with that sort of problem, besdies, it takes awhile to get to the deep sea diving stage.

The point of SCUBA is to feel free in the water.  If ye are afreaid to wear the correct equipment, or if ye think ye'll feel traped by the water, then don't do it. If ye want to try, take a trip down to yer nearest SCUBA store and talk to some profesional divers.

  3. A fish aquarium pump does not make air, it takes the air around it and pushes it into the aquarium.

Check with your doctor.  If your doctor will OK you to dive, then find a good shop and sign up.  There are options for folks with physical issues.  Ask them, and they'll help you out.

But all teaching agencies need to have a doctors approval.
