I am thinking of going into a cisco career?

I am quite a computer fundie, buy magazines keep up with all the tech ins and outs, always fiddling and upgrading my pc, an excellent intuitive troubleshooter with anything pc related...

would a career as a cisco engineer suit me...

my only fear is that there is not entry level requirements for this career path, so anyone can enter it, and there are allready a lot of people in it, will i get a job?, how will i differentiate myself from the rest? etc.

  1. This is hard to answer completely without knowing the specifics of your regional market. I work/live in the Los Angeles area and there is demand for both entry level and senior level positions - though the demand is not high, it is still there. The local economy is wavering on how fiscally conservative it wants to be over the next year. You can differentiate yourself to a degree with entry level certifications such as the Network+ or CCNA. Not sure these days, but a NOC job was a good in-road in the past to more hardcore network projects. Hope this helps.
