I am thinking of going to Paris. What are some pros and cons and what should I know?

  1. Cons:

    a) Time of the year: remember that winters in Paris are rough!

    b) Paris is an expensive city

    Pros:

    a) Intense Cultural life: Musee d'Orsay, Louvre, art galleries, etc

    b) Architecture - 18 and 19 centuries and modern architecture - see Défense

    c) Gardens - Tuilleries, Luxembourg

    d) Palaces - Versailles

    e) Wonderful bookshops - example: Sorbonne area

    f) Fantastic food and wine!

    g) The Boulevards are a trade mark of Urbanism in Europe

    h) Night life is great! Example: Jazz clubs

    i) Fabulous network of public transportation: the Paris subway will take you everywhere!


  2. I went and it was amazing! Make sure you see the catacombs, take the subway to get around and watch out for pickpockets. Their bottled water is carbonated but if you shake it and keep letting the fizz out it will taste okay. Visit sidewalk cafes and if people ask, say your Canadian.

It was really awesome when I went but it had alot of tourists.  Also in Paris everyone is good looking.  It is like a fancier New Yor City.  However the subway is still sketchy and is smells bad.  It was deffinitly worth going though.  You have to see the Eifel Tower and it lights up every night which is awesome.  Also go to the Champs Elysee and just walk down the street looking at evreything.  The Louvre is also something you should see but use a map and plan out what you want to see before hand.  The last thing don't go on a boat tour of all the bridges.  I went on it and everyone that was with me fell asleep and didn't pay attention to anything they were saying plus all they do is go under a bunch of bridges.
