I am thinking of joining the Marine reserves. How log do the MOS's usually last?

I am trying to figure out how long i will be gone initially. (basic training and MOS's) any other info or advice would be appreciated. Thank You.

  1. You will get to come home for 10 days after the 13 weeks of boot camp before heading off to MCT and MOS school. If you're going in the Reserves, you can do the 92 day program, where you go to boot camp one summer, MCT the next summer, and MOS school the summer after that. It takes a long time to get all your training done, but it's good for people who are in school.  


  2. The length of boot camp is 13 wks, MCT is 3 wks (non infantry Marines), and the length of MOS schools vary depending of the jobs.

  3. Boot camp is 13 weeks as long as you do not get injured and sent to the medical platoon, followed by 10 days of leave / possible recruiters assistance... MOS school depends what your MOS is... Ask your recruiter - he'll be able to give you an exact time frame.
