  1. tassie is a great place for kids but check out the education in the area where you want to love because after year 10 there are minimal schools that cater for levels 11 & 12 especially in areas like the west coast like Rosebery, Queenstown, Tulla

  2. Wow all the way from Perth Tasmania to Hobart Tasmania & you need to ask on the net what it is like. Typical Taswegian never travels. OOOppps did you mean Perth WA? In that case as a visitor to both Perth WA & Hobart Tas I would say you are leaving the fantasic to go to perfect. Both Cities have fantastic places & fantastic people so why move.

  3. Why would you want to live in Tasmania? Its bottom of the food chain, even Adelaide is a step up.

  4. It's a great place to bring up kids.  In a lot of ways Hobart is like a big country town and that's a good thing.  Launceston is the same but smaller.  The isolation of the place from the rest of the country is similar to Perth so that shouldn't be a problem for you.  Check it out first if you can.

  5. Depends on where you move to,like all states we have some excellent state and private schools, schools in area with socioeconomic problems tend to have more problems.

Hobart has the largest population and the most job opportunities and school choices.

Tradesmen are in high demand here as are health workers, wages on average will be lower than Perth but the cost of housing while rising is still substantially lower

Edit - Mel the Gold Coast is the bottom of the food chain a plastic, shallow and ugly place, Tassy is clean and beautiful
