Hamsters aren't that expensive.  Ask your parents to get you one and you do more chores around the house.

You might be able to get a free hamster if you look on www.kijiji.com under the "other pets" section.  I've been keeping an eye out for a particular breed of dog for a few months now and in my area people are always trying to give away hamsters, guinea pigs, kittens, etc.  Sometimes the rodents even have a cage included.  If you don't see one right away, go back everyday, you will eventually.

Then with the major cost out of the way all you have to do is come up with money for food, bedding and any extras you might want.  Mow a few lawns a week, that will get you paid.  You could also wash windows for people, wash cars, walk dogs or pick up their messes in people's yards.
