  1. My last travel was in 2006 September. It's a good route if you want to see Nepal on the way to Siliguri. Except for frequent transfers, the road condition in the entire route must be fine because about two-third of your travel will be on the busiest and the best highway of Nepal.

I am giving you a time-saving way, although you can get less transfers than this. You can take a bus from Bareili to Banbasa (on Bareili-Tanakpur bus) preferably before 9 am, and cross the India-Nepal border and reach Mahendranagar at about 2pm. From there you can take any bus that reaches Narayangarh. Buses to Kathmandu (via Narayangarh) leave at about 3 pm and you will reach Narayangarh at about 2-3am in the next morning.

This city remains open all the night, and you can easily find hotels in immediate proximity to rest until 8 am in the morning, or just enjoy the street foods and have chats with other travellers. Buses to Kakarbhitta arrive from Kathmandu around 8 am, and you have to take one to reach Kakarbhitta.

Sometimes buses do not enter the city and go via a "bypass-road", so make sure with hotel people where it is the best to get those buses. You may have to travel a few kilometers in city-bus to reach "by-pass".

Your night stay will be at Kakarbhitta. After you cross the border from Kakarbhitta the next morning, you can get small vehicles to reach Silguri directly.

All the best for your travel.
