We are not going skiing, just to play in the snow with my 2 toddlers. How do I get there from Melbourne - City Road Near the Southbanks. Thanks!

  1. s***w them all try Port MacDonnell, South Australia!

  2. I would say that if you know you don't want to go skiing, head down to Lake Mountain.

Mt Buller is very busy and has a lot of beginner skiers, and can therefore be quite hectic and busy.

Lake Mountain, on the other hand, caters for cross country skiers and families.

I'm 17 now, but when I was younger, between the ages of about 4 and 8, we used to go to Mt Hotham / Dinner Plain skiing (Dinner Plain is also good and comparable to Lake Mountain, but further away) and Lake Mountain to go tobogganing and playing in the snow with family friends.

From my personal experience, I think a toddler would have more fun at Lake Mountain, and you can have some peace of mind because you won't have to worry quite so much about your kids getting run over by skiers! Also, its much closer to Melbourne than Buller.

The only problem you might have is the lack of snow...

As to how to get to Lake Mountain -

    go onto www.visitvictoria.com.au

then on the left it says Maps of Victoria

then below that it says Route Planner

    put in your start address,

and then for where you want to go, Lake Mountain doesn't come up so put in Marysville (the closest town) and it will give you directions. you can choose between the simplest and the shortest routes.

easiest way, though, is a melways or a GPS.

    Have fun!

  3. Lake Mountain if there's any snow. Take soph's advice on how to find it.
