I know it would be impossible for me to drive the whole way into Central London and park while I have my appointment, so I hope to drive as far as I can and get the train/tube for the rest of the way. I am comng from Manchester and going to Bentick Street W1U2ER, near Bond Street Tube. What train station do you think I should park my car and to get the train for the rest of the journey? I just am not familiar with London and need all the help I can get!

Thank you in advance,

Zoe.

  1. I'd look to get somewhere near one of the Central Line tube stations to the west of town and go direct along the central line from there - Sheperds Bush, Acton or possibly Hangar Lane (which is on the North Circular Road)....

  2. Do you have to take the car?  I would suggest taking a train from Manchester to London, which usually takes about three hours.

For your travel needs in London check out:

If you get a train to London Euston take the Northern Line (black line) south to Tottenham Court Road.  Here get the Central Line (red line) west to Bond Street.  This tube map will help:

Use google map for a map of the Bond Street area:

If you must drive I would suggest Wembly Park area so you can just get the tube to Bond Street (south on the Jubilee line - grey).  That is what my friends do when travelling from up north.

  3. Hi, here's a list of tube stations which have car parks:

The thing to do would be to cross reference this with a tube map:

and try and find one which is along your route into town.

I'd personally recommend Highgate tube, on the Northern line, as it is very close to the bottom of the M1 just on the A1. Also, you don't really want to drive too far into town as the traffic just gets worse and worse, and Highgate is a decent balance between being fairly close (Zone 3) but not wasting your time sitting in traffic in town.

From Highgate you can get the Northern Line to Goodge Street tube station and walk along Goodge St/Mortimer St Bentick St (about 10mins) or get the Central line to Bond Street from Tottenham Court Road.

Alternatively, it really would be much easier and MUCH quicker to get the train from Manchester. Try Virgin's new mobile/e-ticket site to see if you can get a cheapy from Manchester.
