I am worried about the water there at the resort. I have heard from people that they do have a water filtration system and then others I have heard they slipped through the cracks and they do not have one? What is it? I am worried about drinking mixed drinks at the bar because it has ICE in it?? Please help. Advice please. Also if you have any other information I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

  1. Hola. I know the Riu's pretty good.  First off.  The Riu Sante Fe is hooked up to the Riu Palace's de-salination system, so that is why some people think there isn't one.  There is.  So the water is actually better filtrated than the local water system.  Anyways, that's beside the issue.

We often think we are going to get sick from water or ice.  Its actually not usually the water....its usually the intense sun, drinking copious amounts of  booze, the strange food, swimming in bacteria laden pools/beaches and then the water, all mixed in that gives us the tourista....bad bacteria that causes diarrhea....all you need to do is make sure to eat a yogurt a day and you will be fine.

Now, saying that you SHOULD drink bottled water and avoid ice if you haven't been vaccinated for things like Hep A/B.  That's just common sense.

Don't be afraid, just come down and try not to worry about it and you will have a great vacation!

  2. buy water from the cruise ship , drink NO water from land.
