I will have a free day to spend on my own between Shannon and Dingle, any recommendation for must see attractions or recommend a hotel along the way?

  1. The Dingle Peninsula is great, the Ring of Kerry, between Shannon and Dingle is a town called Adare, it is an absolutely beautiful town. But anywhere you go in Ireland in beautiful! Enjoy your trip, you will love it!

  2. Any where you go in Ireland will be great. Depending on when you plan on going stay away from Kidare because the Ryder Cup (golf ) is being payed there the w/e of the 23rd. So everything will jacked up in price especially hotels. Go to Tourism Ireland.com for great advice.....You do not have to stay in a hotel B&Bs are like mini hotels at half the price and are owned by local people who have good advice on local attractions...Enjoy your trip

  3. Since you seem to be a hiker, take your thumb West from Shannon. Ireland is [one of] the safest and best countries in the world to hike in.

Follow the road from Shannon through Ennis

[bus from Airport to Ennis is a good idea].

    Ennis is worth a visit.

From Ennis thumb the road to Kilrush.

    From Kilrush go to Killimer.

Take the FERRY across the River Shannon which is about three miles wide here to Tarbert in Kerry. Thumb it again from Tarbert to Tralee. Dingle peninsula is ahead of you.

You don't need hotels in rural Ireland esp. if you are ready to take things as you find them. Every second house on the route above does B+B at quarter the price of a decent hotel.

  4. You could have a wonderful day visiting The Burren, and The Cliffs of Moher.

  5. definitely the cliffs of moher..................will (literally) blow you away.magnificent landmark...enjoy
