I am traveling to Prague, Germany, & Paris and need recommendations for a flat iron for my hair.?

My hair is medium thickness and fairly straight. I have heard lots of problems with peopling bringing U.S. flat irons, and them burning out. I hope to find a good but inexpensive option to purchase so I don't have to risk my Chi.

Most appliance areas of major department stores carry electricity converters for the outlets overseas.  They usually contain a kit of about 5 different plugs that you can plug into your regular American appliances.  So you don't need to buy a new flat iron; you just need converter plugs.  In response to Lee Fan, any reputable department/travel store will sell you the converters/adaptors you need so that they don't burn.

If you understand about converters, there's a very good chance that the people you have heard about have NOT.

If you have one, or a dual voltage appliance, you will be fine.  

I brought my new conair curling iron...self-converting!  There isn't even a switch on this one!  No worries.  Go to Walmart and splurge $10 or 12 on one that SAYS dual voltage.  Conair probably makes one that is auto, as well.

Or, you could simply figure out a style that doesn't require the appliance.  Most hotels, btw, have hair dryers, though a lot of hostels do not.

i find that dealing with all of the converting stuff is a pain, and i travel alot so when i went to europe i bought a GHD, they are nice and work all over europe and in aisa and africa to, so i would advise you to just go ahead and buy a good new one that you can use whenever you travel

The voltage is different between the States and Europe. USA operates with 110 volts, Europe with 230. Electrical devices from the USA will burn out if connected to 230 volts. You need either a transformer from 230 to 110 volts, or a flat iron with multiple voltage 110/230 volts and a plug adapter.
