Or should I just go for the 90 days and then perhaps I don't need a visa? Is that mandatory travel insurance necessary if I only stay 90 days?

  1. No you cannot get a residency visa that quickly. Tell immigrations when you arrive in Sweden your intention to stay in Sweden, they will be glad to assist you. ..

  2. What are you trying to do?  If you are just going for a visit, of course you will need health insurance.  Otherwise, you cannot go to Sweden to settle without a job, visa etc.
