There's a number of possibilities from seafood to beef, Boston has 100's of fine restaurants. go to the back bay area and your choices are of abundant.

If he's into sports, try "The Fours" near the Boston Garden.

If he's into history, try "The Chart House"

And anywhere in the backbay you can find nice places to eat, have a drink and some are on the water....to sip a drink, laugh and talk.
