  1. idk

  2. fatepur sikri is located on way to Jaipur. check www.trips2world.net for delhi agra package which covers fatepur sikri

  3. Sure....

  4. Yes, you can visit both place on the same day.

Personally, I find Fatehpur Sikri (old capital city) much more interesting than the Taj Mahal.

I have been visiting both places like 20 or 25 times while I was living in India.

Start early morning with the Taj to avoid the crowd and getting too many people on your photographs.

    Fatehpur Sikri Tips :

1)What should you visit ? Well, that's not difficult as Fatehpur Sikri is an "enclosed" town so you'll get your entrance ticket, hire a guide and visit the whole place. You won't regret the hours spend there : the whole place is just amazing. : this king had a few wives of different origin and religion and their personal pavillions are an architectural reflexion of this. All buildings have something quite unique and interesting.

2)There is this very old Indian man who is a guide. He really is fascinating to listened to and full of info.He is a walking encyclopedia! Try to find him - there are very few very old guides there and he can't pronounce the long "ee"sound>>> so the word "sheet" becomes something else.:-)) Quite confusing at the start but, once you have figured it out, it is OK-.

He even checks if you are listening by asking questions about what he just explained. Just loved the guy. His tour can last - if you are really interested - up to 3 hours whereas other guides will do it in 1 1/2 - 2 hours.

Don't forget to place your "wish ruban" at the mosque. It is strongly believed that ALL wishes do come true.

Have a nice & fruitful trip.

  5. enough info already exists. I would supplement by advising you to avoid trip on Friday on which they are closed.

  6. Yes.  You can visit Fatephur Sikri durin g your visit to Agra.

Some of the important buildings to visit in this city, both religious and secular buildings, are listed below::

    1) Naubat Khana – Drum house: near the entry, where important arrivals are announced.

    2) Diwan-i-Am – Hall of Public Audience: a building typology found in many Mughal cities where the ruler meets the general public. In this case it is a pavilion like multi-bayed rectangular structure fronting a large open space.

    3) Diwan-i-Khas – Hall of Private Audience: famous for its central pillar with thirty-six voluted brackets supporting a circular platform for Akbar.

    4) Raja Birbal's house: the house of Akbar's favourite minister, who was a Hindu. Notable features of the building are the horizontal sloping sunshades or chajjas and the brackets which support them.

    5) Mariam-uz-Zamani's palace: The building shows Gujarati influence and is built around a courtyard, with special care being taken to ensure privacy.

    6) Pachisi Court: a square marked out as a large sized board game (modern day Ludo) where live coins- people- participated.

    7) Char Chaman Tank: a tank with a central platform and four bridges leading up to it.

    8) Panch Mahal: A five-storied palatial structure. The bottom floor has 176 intricately carved columns.

    9) Buland Darwaza – the 'Gate of Magnificence': one of the gateways to the Jami masjid, a stupendous piece of architecture from the outside, gradually making a transition to a human scale in the inside.

    10) Jama Masjid: the mosque, built in the manner of Indian mosques, with liwans (aisles) around a central courtyard. A distinguishing feature is the row of chhatris (small domed pavilions) over the sanctuary.

    11) Tomb of Salim Chisti: a white marble encased tomb within the Jama mosque's courtyard.
