  1. well done dell i think you've made it good for us all,i was there last Feb,and i rate it 100% esp cool runnings snorkeling with the turtle,it brings back the holiday of a lifetime,if i could go back to anywhere in the world it would be there,

all i can say is that your in for the time of your life,i don't even need to say enjoy, cos i know without a doubt that you will xx

  2. Nightlife is great. You can go to St. Lawrence Gap as there are clubs such as Reggae Lounge, The Ship Inn to name a few. Also has restaurants/bars, hotels, Internet cafe, stuff like that! :)

Elsewhere, there are Club Xtreme, The Boatyard & Harbour Lights.

Go to Bridgetown for shopping, it's also known for duty-free so bring a passport in case but not all shops accept that. Go to Swan Street and Broad Streets. Cave Sheppard has things ranging from shoes/clothes to alcohol to souvenirs, stuff like that although the prices are ridicilously high on some stuff.

As for snorkelling, there are places to choose from, such as:

    Barbados Blue Watersports

    c/o Hilton Hotel

    Needham's Point

    St Michael

    Tel: (246) 434-5764

That being one of them, but I am not sure where's the best. I really like Cool Runnings Catamaran Cruises, though.

Check the links below and hope they are helpful.

Another thing, if you plan on using local transit, then there are route taxis, yellow mini buses and big blue buses for $1.50 BDS per way.

  3. Take a tour with Glory Tours, http://www.glorytours.org when you first get there. They do a great job of showing you the whole island. Since they are locals, they can also give you the best advice on clubs and partying.

  4. Del gave you some great advice.  In terms of sightseeing, I'd really recommend Andromeda Gardens, on the east coast near Bathsheba.  It's a great place to spend a quiet day and the gardens are gorgeous.

Also, check out Bay Garden in Christ Church off of Maxwell Coast Road.  It's a bunch of outdoor stands that sell food, the fish is really good and a complete dinner will set you back about $10 (for a lot of food!).

The Mount g*y distillery tour is not that great, but their rum is out of this world!  I was not a rum drinker, but their Mt. g*y extra old is so wonderful.  Give it a try at one of the many, many rum shops (open air shacks where you can get a drink).

Every Sunday there are organized hikes/walks.  They're free and designed for anyone who wants to go - and a lot of local people go on them.  You get to go a bit off the beaten path and get to see parts of the island that you might not have gotten a chance to see.

For lunch especially, if you're looking for something a little less expensive, try going to local restaurants that most tourists don't go to.  Marshall's on Holden Hill (near the west coast) has wonderful food and it's very reasonable.  Lots of surf shacks/wind surf rental places also serve food that's often pretty good.

Barbados is my favorite place to go - have a great time!
