I am staying by the Charles De Gaulle airport and would like to know if I have to buy 2 passes (one pass from the airport to the center for every day and then a zone 1-3 pass) or a just one zone 1-5 pass.

One more thing - is tourpackagers.com a legitimate website?

  1. You should reconsider staying in a hotel by the airport. This is far removed from anyplace a tourist would want to be.

If you do stay by the airport you do not need to buy 2 passes. One will suffice.

  2. The other posters are right, but one detail.  There basically aren't any legitimate discounts for Carte Orange or any Metro passes.  Buy the weekly zone 1-5 pass and save the hassle.

Here's another detail: Carte Orange was basically designed for Parisians, not tourists.  So they don't tell you in advance that you need to have your photo on the card.  Bring a photo with you, head and shoulders, about 1 inch (2.5 cm) high.  I got a warning from a nice but firm transit cop who could have charged me a 25 Euro fine on the spot.

  3. All you need to do is when you arrive to the airport (charles de Gaulle) you go to a cashier who sells tickets, and buy one named : Carte Orange (last for one week) all you need, buses, metro (subway), rail.

  4. the airport is far from the city, if you r tourist  its better to be in paris close surbubs. By the way as the first person mentioned, you can buy one week CARTE ORANGE. it is at discount, compared to everyday tickets.

    Good luck
