  1. I know a gynocolgist that adopted a baby along time ago, he was atthe hospital on call and a lady was giving birth not a patient of his and he found out this woman wanted to give her baby up,wanted the baby to have a good loving home, the hospital helped him get the baby & then again he got another baby similar way, so he raised two girls from two different women and gave them a good home and did not have any kids hisself he & his wife.....................

  2. You can contact the Department of Social Services.  You will be able to adopt without going through an agency that way.

  3. Why would you want to do this?  It might be easier to go through a lawyer who specializes in adoption but at some point there is usually an agency involved.      Unless you know a girl that gets pregnant that just wants to give up the baby.  What are the odds??  I don't know.

    I wouldn't do it.

  4. You do not need an agency but you do need an adoption attorney.  Check out those in your state at www.adoptionattorneys.org.

You can list your profile on on-line sites like parent profiles etc and in Arkansas its legal to place ads seeking to adopt in the newspaper so you can do that too.

  5. foster care.

  6. To my knowledge it's impossible to just go and find one on your own....

There are legalities to adoption...therefore agencies are needed!

  7. Why don't you want to go through an agency?

Agencies ensure that the rights of all three parties (two if the birthmom is out of the picture) are protected.

  8. Why do you not want to go through an agency?  There are no real "short cuts" when it comes to adoption.  The birthmother you are going to be having a relationship with deserves counseling and support.  She deserves the right to change her mind, and she deserves an adoptive family that is prepared in every way to adopt.  A family that is educated, counseled, and has gone through extensive background checks and a lengthy homestudy process.

Not wanting to go through the proper channels to adopt, wanting instead to cut corners and go the easy route, is similar to a woman wanting to have a baby, when she is not willing to get prenatal care and take care of herself and the baby.

The reason there are no birth mothers just hanging out at crisis pregnancy centers, is that they know that women need more than just a "willing person" to safely adopt their baby.  Women (and babies!) have rights to a fully prepared, educated, counseled and approved adoptive family.  And if cost is a factor, then please consider going through your state agency Protective Services, or to foster/adopt.

    Good luck!

  9. Agencies do not have to be involved. An adoption attorney would be able to guide you. They don't have babies available but can guide you on how to obtain a home study and counseling. Their contacts are usually directly from pregnant women looking for couples to adopt their baby.

eta: Agencies are probably more convenient because they offer  all of the necessary services under one roof. But potential adoptive parents can become a fully prepared, educated, counseled and approved adoptive family on their own with the proper guidance. All legal and ethical too.

  10. if you do not have to go through an agency then contact the charity home at charity_homefor_poorkids@yahoo.com for more informations about their kids. my sister adopted her baby boy from them and it's very easy and clear.

  11. Imagine if just anyone could get their hands on a child.  That is called Child trafficking.  Please consider foster care or reputable agency.  Doing this on your own is unethical.

  12. If you don’t want to go through an agency you can go through an adoption attorney or adopt through foster care.  If you know a pregnant woman who is wanting place her baby you could offer to adopt the baby. Pretty much if you go to an adoption attorney they would find a expecting mother for you, in some cases they might be helping the EM look for PAP.

  13. Social Services.  There are thousands of kids needing loving homes.

    Good luck

  14. I also live in Arkansas, and by spreading the word that we wanted a child, we were able to find a young woman who couldn't keep her baby.  I also believe that agencies often bully girls.  We were so lucky to adopt our baby, and the list is so long in our state.  Good luck!

  15. Why don't you want to go through an agencey?   Yes it cost money but that is the best way for both parties. To me going up to some woman kind of seemes like back alley dealing to me.

With that said you can put the word out that you guys are intersted and maybe someone will contact you but you still have to go through the courts to have it legalized.

You can do foster care and you can specify the age range you wnat and do 0-2 and get a child that way if you want a younger child
