I am trying to find a way to work from home, online, without having to invest money. Suggestions?

Most of the so-called online opportunities I have found require investing quite a bit of money up front. I have none to invest. And, in these days of high gas prices, it just makes sense to try to work from home. I would like some suggestions of legitimate work from home jobs, if anybody has any. Thanks a bunch!!

Sorry, but I don't know of any that are legitimate.

Can you do daycare out of your home?  What about cleaning houses?  In my area, housekeepers make $20 to $25 an hour.  That's pretty good, considering they don't have much invested in their equipment.

Nearly everyone has given thought to the idea of being able to work from home, and many of those people are actively searching for something just as you are. I mean who wouldn't want to right?

That being said, it is possible to find an actual work at home job, it just may take some diligence & patience along with applying to multiple companies before you may find one that hires you.

As for the many opportunities that you have come across that require an investment in order to get started, these are actual home based business opportunities. And granted most of us didn't or don't have money & that's why you are looking for something to earn some extra cash from home. The reason for the start up costs is because unlike a job (even one from home) where you are paid only for the time you put in or are scheduled, with a business of your own like what you find online often, you are paid residually meaning once you do the work, you will continue to be paid for as long as that business or customer continues to take part in whatever it is you are offering.

if you are looking for something ethical and interesting as well, i must tell you, long term steady income require some patience and dedication.. fast and easy money are mostly scams..

I suggest you setup an online store, or start a blog and monetize it. Both these options are free to start. Its interesting and fun as well.

If people are telling you that you can earn thousands of dollars a month, they're lying and probably trying to scam you. The only real way to earn money online is with PTC sites and it's completely free. You can earn 100-200$ a month or even more. Most of them are scam.. they ask for upfront payment and guarantee that you'll cover it in days.. but then they disappear..

elance and guru are good option you can try to explore others as well.

First, never, ever pay to get a job! Legitimate companies will not charge you to work for them. Finding these companies can be an overwhelming task, but I have a good resource for you.... http://www.workathomedesk.com is a free site that has an excellent directory of companies that hire home workers and also has frequently updated job leads. The only expenses you should have to work from home are high speed internet and equipment like a headset. Hope this helps. Good luck.
