'Jackson & Perkins indeed: my mother, who was of a farming family, used to order from J&P when I was a boy, given that I was a born horticulturalist at a very young age growing up in a large eastern mid-Atlantic city, during which my focus was primarily deciduous plants and the wild species of beings.  

Plants are mighty beings and have always been my chosen 'house furniture' -- alive, soulful...  Later I focused would go on to focus and study the great medicinal plants.

But bear in mind, since you are contemplating living in Hawaii -- there are considerable opportunity to enjoy palms, ferns, philodendrons, dracenas, the family of epiphytes, and the like.
