We have to go in Sept. We are trying for Sept 8th or so. I know that that is one of the better times to go to be able to see the Northern Lights. How cold is it?

  1. If you go to www.cruisecritic.com, you'll find an ample supply of detailed suggestions and experiences on each Cruise Line and on each Ship.

Very valuable tips, reviews, and suggestions that you can peruse at your leisure.

  2. My wife and I were there in late August a couple of years ago but we're not on honeymoon but a regular cruise.  The weather was nice and about 65 degrees.  This much I can say about the cruise:  The land part of the curse is hectic.  You don't stay more than a day or a day and a half in one spot and is not conducive to a good honeymoon.  The ship's part is better because you actually can have much more privacy - - you can stay in your cabin all day if you wish.  Get all your meals in it as you wish.

Or you can enjoy the night life on board.  The scenery on land can get boring after a while, but the night life on board rocks all night.  I think that any refutable travel agency can help you plan your trip to Alaska.  I am sorry that this is all I could offer.

  3. September is one of the best times to go to Alaska. Take a look at Princess Cruises. They are really a good step ahead of the pack.

Search for cruise specials. All Cruise lines offer these to fill up the ship.

    Example:

One guy from Texas spent $995 for his ticket

    Another from CO spent $875

And I got the same cruise for $599

This is an example of the wide variations in cruise pricing. And just because you spent less does not mean yours will be less than perfect. You get all the same food and amenities that the others do. The only difference is in cabin (inside, outside and suites). Save money for the off-shore excursions. They are worth it and really make your trip.

It can get cold at night (20-30's) and days are better (50-65).

    Have Fun

  4. Try to book on the Carnival Spirit.  I know several people who have gone on this cruise and loved it.  The only thing we were warned about is that in Sept at several of the ports they had a problem with dead fish.  The salmon had come upstream and spawned, and were dying on the riverbanks.  The cities smelled like dead fish.  I do not remember which ones these were in, but it is a serious consideration.
