Question:

I am trying to find glass jar manufacturers that use only 100% recycled glass?

I am trying to be a little 'greener' everyday. I make all natural products and I have been searching the internet for days and can't get just what I am looking for.

I want 100% recycled clear, green or amber glass jars (with and without lids) for my lotions and candles.

Also, recycled metal tins for the same purpose.

Any ideas would be great!

  1. As far as I am aware , you can't use 100% recycled glass in the melt. You can only add a certain percentage of recycled glass to new glass.

I have never found a glazier that gives you the choice new window glass or the cheaper recycled stuff as you can with paper, car batteries, oil etc.

  2. How about re-using old jars or bottles and save the energy required to recycle that glass...

  3. I have no idea how to tell if the glass in a given jar is recycled, unless I was to trust a small label.

  4. Why, are you trying to save sand?
