  1. Wow, there is so much you can do for this. First you want to pick a size, then how you are going to attach it to the child and of course where you want to attach it. Such as the front of them, or the back (because this can be easier with preschoolers).

After that you can let them choose how to decorate, give them things to decorate with such as stickers, crayons, markers, etc... You could let them put a picture of their favorite item on the name tag too.

You could even write on the back of the name tag what room your classroom is, their bus number, or anything that would be useful to other adults in the school if the child gets lost. I know that is a horrid idea, but Im sure it does happen, kids like to wander, the littler they are the more they like to explore (no fear).

Personally I would let them decorate their name tags, schools seem to want all the kids to be the same, and I like to encourage them to be themselves, even at a young age.

I think the necklace type of name tag could be best for preschoolers, because it won't just fall off.

  2. How about laminated labels with their names on and a picture of an animal of the their first letter like Freddie would have a Fox, Laura would have a Lemur, etc.

Then on the wall put a picture of all the animals and in the morning get the children to collect their name tags from the wall (so Freddie's would be on a fox picture, Laura's on a Lemur picture etc.) and velcro them on themselves all day. Then at the end of the day they all put their own name tags back.

We do it in the local preschool because it's a nice way to register the children and they learn their own, and animal, names.

It can also be done with colours (if you don't have many children) or food, holidays, numbers, job etc. Just make sure the children all get 'good' animals so that they are all happy. A chubby kid called Peter doesn't want the animal pig for example!

    Hope I helped!!

  3. if it is for on the child, masking tape and a sharpie marker.  place name tags on child's back, they can't pull them off. :)

necklace ones, they pull or rip off and they only last about 10 minutes for an active child.

  4. no pins! trust me, stick to sticky things

maybe they could have a new one every week like one week could be color week and they could dress up in specific colors and have their name tags those colors and one week could be animal week and they can have animals on them like a tiger for timmy and a flamingo for Felicia

or! you could have them make their own nametags! im sure they would love that!

  5. I like to make name tags depending on the season or holiday for example snowflakes for winter or hearts for valentines. I use everything from die cuts to children's art for name tags. the kids love to see stickers or sparkles also. sometimes i make name tags according to themes we're  on such as zoo animals or transportation. I always laminate them and put clips or use plastic name tag protectors with clips. safety pins ruin clothing. to make it simple buy premed name tags/stickers and put them in the protectors
