  1. For the peeps iam not sure but around 6-7 weeks look at crowns the roos will be bigger and hens smaller and close to 5 months the roos will start to grow hens start to produce the eggs.Roo (short 4 Rooster)

  2. Checking the wing feathers is accurate for some breeds but not all.  The only way I know that works for all breeds of chickens is vent sexing.  I've never done it because I buy my pullets from a mail order hatchery that does it for me.  As I understand it you have to look up the bird's butt and look at the s*x organs.

  3. are they laying eggs?

  4. Depending on the age of the chickens it can be determined at the age of 1 day, 3 weeks and full grown. When the baby chick is 1 day old you would look at the feathers under its wing. Males will have a long rowns and females will have short and long rows of feathers. When the chickens are 3 weeks old the males will tend to fight like normal, finding the dominant of the grounp. When there full grown at age of 6 months males, also called cockerials or roos, will begin to grow spurs on the back of there feet. Females, some hen depending on breed I have seen grown one spur on there foot. Females will cackel and begin to lay eggs. Roos will crow.
