  1. UK answer.

This is all I could find for you, it came from www.ancestry.com

    Gurnsey Name Meaning and History

English: apparently an altered spelling of Guernsey.

    hope this helps.

  2. A cow.  (Ha ha!)  The name Guernsey came from the small English town which, in time, did become famous for its agriculture and (what we would now consider) crafts, fine woolens, and other daily necessities of, shall we say, the Middle Ages.

  3. I'm guessing from the Island of Guernsey in the English Channel

  4. Gurnsey

    Last name origin & meaning:

English: apparently an altered spelling of Guernsey.

    From :-

The Bailiwick of Guernsey (French: Bailliage de Guernesey) is a British Crown dependency in the English Channel off the coast of Normandy.

  5. You'll probably find that it came from the Channel Island, GUERNSEY (a UK territory off the coast of France).

I think it's a miss-spelling of the island name (and miss-spelling happened a lot, especially when the person was illiterate, and when the census was being taken, the moderator had to guess at the spelling). The name would imply that the original Gurnseys were living in, or from Guernsey.
