  1. Watching television provides too much stimulation for young children. Children should not even be exposed to television or computers until they are at least 6 years old.

There is more and more evidence that television viewing by young children is a contributing factor in Attention deficit problems and leads to reduced ability to read and comprehend black and white (picture free) reading material. as an adult.  This happens because as young children our brains are trying to figure out how much stimulation to expect to have to process in a normal situation.  Sometime between the ages of four and six the brain sets itself at a permanent level.

If the brain is overstimulated during the time the brain is trying to set that permanent level, than the child will have a hard time working in a low stimulation environment. Thus, they need to have more pictures and fewer words in their reading material.  This may be fairly benign while the child is young, but it will cause problems when they try to read Plato or Shakespeare in high school or college.

  2. They're not available to download because it's not a good idea.  The best thing for her to watch is YOU- she'll enjoy that just as much if not more, and will certainly learn more.

  3. Do not get your 9 month old watching TV - you need to stimulate her brain in other ways.  Reading, toys, singing, etc. are much better choices.

  4. My recommendation: PLEASE don't get her watching things, yet! Talk to her, read to her, let her crawl on the floor, give her sticks to pick up, let her help you cook.....but DON'T get her watching things!!

  5. I know so many people have mixed feelings on tv and kids. I am a teacher and I have been a part of studies on children and tv. Young children, your child's age, can be stimulated by shows such as the Wiggles and Baby Einstein. Shows of this nature help with development of the frontal lobe. I don't suggest letting young children watch an incredible amount of cartoons. I think tv should be limited once kids reach two years old. Good luck!

  6. dont get her watching tv try and do something with her like reading and stuff ahe shouldnt be watching tv at such a young age

  7. y not?????????? if she enjoys it......... it can stimulate and develop her social skills for the use in her life later during schooling

  8. download  perschool games or something. you'll have to do hem bt she'll pick up everything you do the game does and then some.

Kids are like a sponge  at this age so be careful.  like you would with a new sponge that you want to keep clean as long as possible.

They learn more and faster in a shorter period of time in the next few yrs. than they will again in there lives.

Use tv as a tool.  watch dora,  nature show's,  big bird.  I let my kids watch nature shows mainly when they where this age. It has become a staple in there tv viewing.  and there  teen agers.  If there not plain bored, sick, or its raining etc.and watching tv it's and its a movie.  it's a good one.

Or there else they  find something to  read.

  9. Greetings!   As a preschool teacher, I am very glad you asked this question.

    The simple answer is........nothing.

There is a huge, huge world for your child to explore.  Even looking at a spider making a web is cause for great wonder.

At nine months, I cannot stress enough that whole language and exploration is much, much more crucial than any computer program you can download.  Your time with your baby is priceless.  He or she isn't going to remain small forever.

Infants at nine months is one of the most exciting periods of early childhood development there is.  So much happens in that very short time.  Your time and presence will be the most priceless thing you can give your child.  I cannot stress that enough.

A computer will always be there.  He or she will discover it soon enough.

In fact, I never recommend the usage of the computer until the child is about to go to Kindergarten.  There is so much a child can play and see and explore.  The computer really stifles the child's imagination.  We do have a computer in our classroom, but it is because we have to.  It is far from my favorite component of the classroom.

I hope that help you.  Take care.

    ENJOY YOUR BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. NO TV !!! doctors recommend no tv for babies. here are two articles, you actually delay speech development, and in my opinion as a teacher, social development when the child is hooked on tv viewing. tv robs a child of creative thought. the child who trys to do 'something creative' actually mimics what he/she saw on tv. no real thought is being used, no thinking outside of the 'box'.

  11. Babies of that age should not be watching any type of television or video programs.  They should be actively engaged and involved with live human beings and an physical objects they can touch.  They need to be learning and that requires experiencing the world around them up close and personal.  Children at that age are like sponges when it comes to learning.   Don't restrict your child's experiences by providing the diluted video substitute for the real thing.

  12. no no tv is great, put on some dora the explorer, or spongebob, yeah spongebob

  13. Please don't! She doesn't need TV. It can slow her language development as well as her motor development. Give her a few age appropriate toys, lots of books and time with you to be played with and read to. Let her explore her environment. Sing to her, or play music. Dance around with her. The best gift you can give her is your time.
