My husband and I are going to Oxford (he is doing some doctorate work there) and we are traveling with our 7month old baby, and we know nothing about England's transportation. We are hoping to get from Heathrow airport to Oxford University without spending all our money (which we don't have much of). Please help.

  1. The Oxford bus company runs buses directly from Heathrow to the centre of Oxford (see website below-you need to look for 'the airline'), which would avoid the hassle of crossing Central London with luggage and a 7 month infant in tow. Prices and times are listed on the website, but buses are generally the cheapest way to travel in the UK so I doubt you'd get cheaper than this, and the only thing that would be more convenient would be an airport car, which will be a lot more expensive.

  2. there are plenty of buses  first going into London (where you may have to change buses but remain in the same bus station) direct from Heathrow. Google National Express Buses in the UK and you will get all the fare and time information.  Enjoy Oxford it is a lovely city for pedestrians as cars are practically banned everwhere.

Buses via  London run every 30 minutes or so and the journey is just under 3 hours, single adult tickets are around  ÃƒÂ‚£24 or US$50
