  1. Attack your weaknesses, whatever they are.

It doesn't matter what clubs you have--It's the Indian, not the bow.

  2. in-prove? Do you mean improve? Seems to me that you need to improve your GPA before you work on your handicap.

  3. The quick answer is to practice the area that is your weakest the most.  So, practice as an inverse of your skill level in each area of your game.  If your putting is the weakest, ANALYZE what in your putting is weakest (reading greens? Pace?, Stroke?, etc.)  If your short game is the weakest, then is it 20 - 50 yards in? 50 - 75? 75 - 100?, is it chipping, bunkers?, etc.

Replay every round and while always thinking what went well, be a detective and figure out where you left strokes out on the course.

Was it physical or mental?  Maybe, your game is strong but the space between your ears needs some help... Remember that most pros say that golf is 90% mental and the other 10% is in your head.

WRT your clubs - do you REALLY think that is your issue?  Michaelangelo used tools that today are considered barbaric.  How about the clubs Sam Snead played with?

  4. Practice your long game.  Look at the stats on tour.  The guys who are the longest off the tee typically are in the hunt.  Why?  They birdie every par 5 and most short par 4s.  Then they just hang in their on everything else.  Your score comes from those holes.

Putts per hole is so misleading.  If someone goes out and hits every green, their puts per hole is going to be much higher than someone who missess every green.  Put yourself into position to birdie the short par 4s and the par 5s.  Hit the ball long and straight.!

  5. practice your short game.
