have a HMDI connection. My problem is I cannot get the remote control to work with either the DVD or the TV. Both the TV and DVD work fine with their respective controls and sound comes through the home theatre speakers just fine.

My current set up is as follows: the tv is connected to the dvd via HDMI then I have component hook ups from the DVD to the Receiver and the TV.

I need help getting this crazy remote to control the receiver, tv and dvd. Does anyone know how to fix the remote control issue?

  1. Your receiver is not provided with a 'programmable' remote.  It only talks to other Onyko equipment.

  2. A) FIRST BUY A UNIVERSAL REMOTE, THAT GIVES YOU THE ABILITY TO CONTROL ALL YOUR  AUDIO VISUAL DEVICES. CHECK OUT THE LESS EXSPENSIVE ONE LIKE PHILIPS  PMDVD6 REMOTE. IT HAS LEARNING REMOTE FUNCTIONS.

    B) CONNECT THE DVD PLAYER INTO THE RECIEVER IN THE HD RCA PLUGS Y,Pb,Pr, THESE ARE HD CONNECTIONS.USE THE SAME FOR CONNECTING THE ONKYO TO YOUR PLASMA TV. READ THE DIRECTIONS FOR THE REMOTE SETUP, THE LEARNING SETUP ON THE REMOTE WILL MINMIC THE OTHER REMOTE CONTROLS FUNCTIONS
