I bought some steel clips, some tacky glue and pretty plastic buttons from Micheals. My problem is that the buttons have a loop at the back which i thought i could cut out easily and stick them on to the steel clips. I cut out the loops from the buttons but a tiny bit still remains and so doesnt sit properly on top of the clip. Any ideas? Also what kind of glue would be good for this. I am using tacky glue and have a feeling that it wont last.

  1. I think using hot glue with a hot glue gun would work out better.  I've definitely used it with success for this kind of project.  And by using the hot glue, you solve the problem of the tiny bits on the back...since hot glue is thicker, it should give you more room for error.

    Good luck and have fun!

  2. Tacky glue is good but  you need buttons that do not have a shank.  You can also use Elmer's Craft Glue or if you have a hot glue gun it is the best for this kind of a craft.

I put ribbons beads and feathers on the hair clips I made, they are not expensive to make.  Let the glue dry for a long time before you put them in the hair.

  3. i would just use hot glue and ribbons

  4. i would use a dremel or maybe you or your husband own a grinding wheel?...you might want to take a piece of sand paper to the top of the barretts first....things adhere better to texture than they do smooth finishes....ya can't go wrong with superglue!
