I am trying to mount an aluminum sheet Help!

I am trying to mount an aluminium sheet, on to another one which has stand offs

I want to mount the new sheet on to the stand offs but cant figure out how to accurately drill the holes in the correct position to line up with the mounts

Any Help/Tips/Ideas appreciated!!!!

  1. measure the distance between the screws on the stand offs. measure from the center of the screws and how far from the edge of the sheet then on the new sheet measure up from the bottom how far you want the new one to over lap and mark the height and width of the original screws holes. check all marks twice to be sure they are in the right place then drill holes and mount.


  2. a photo is worth a thousand words...self taping screws and a tape measure may be part of the answer

  3. I'm not sure what "stand offs" are, but in a case like this, I usually use vise grips to hold the pieces together and drill through both at the same time. use a soft cloth in the jaws so you won't mar the sheets.

  4. Put a dab of lipstick on the standoffs and hold the sheet there-do it once.
