I am trying to obtain Irish Citizenship, since its in the EU, may I get a job in the UK w/out needing a visa?

  1. Once you will have Irish passport, yes u can get a job in UK without any visa or any other restrictions.


  2. Um yeah, but then why not just try for UK citizenship? You can work anywhere in the EU without a visa, you will need a job to go to before you leave Ireland though, and obviously you won't get any benefits if you're in the UK and not working.

  3. You will need to have lived in Ireland for a number of years before you can obtain citizenship, and then get an Irish passport. If you are from the E.U. then you will not need a visa to work in the U.K. however, if you are not from the E.U. and are trying to get into the U.K. by using Ireland as a back door to gain entrance, you will find it almost impossible now.

  4. Ireland citizenship laws are pretty generous with heritage.  If even you had as much as a great grandparent born in Ireland, you might qualify for citizenship.  See http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Pages/WP0...

    If you do succeed in getting an Irish citizenship, it will open the door for you for all of the EU job market, including the UK.
