  1. got to youtube.com and look up beginner guitar tutorials.

    hope it helps :)

  2. Buy a cheap 6 string acoustic just in case you quite. Learning guitar varies with people I found it personally easy. Always start with acoustic because electrics are pretty pricey, and you'll have to buy amps and cords. At least with an acoustic switching to electric won't be much different. I was lucky to have an antique acoustic to start with(it was my grandpas). Good luck. Oh and you can always teach your self to play it really isn't that hard. They have books on it.

  3. well, get a guitar. i started off on a classical, and from my experience, that would be the best way to go. then try to find a teacher and take lessons. if you cant find a teacher, buy a beginners book and teach yourself.

  4. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_qu...

Some stuff on youtube is pretty good, it certainly won't hurt to check it out.

Technique, timing and discipline are the keys.

  5. My sister takes free lessons online, but i don' know the website. Try looking it up.

  6. A good way to learn is to buy a chord book and try to listen to your favorite songs and play them. From there, if you already don't have an ear for music you will develop/hone your ear for whats going on when you hear a song with guitar in it.Really if you listen to any song on the radio you learn that they are mostly playing like three chords.Learn Barred(or bar chords) too.Jam with friends, or people who play guitar.Playing with others really elevates your skill on guitar and you learn a whole lot.

I really highly recommend learning music theory.I don't know if you are in high school or college but usually you can find a music theory class that way.

Also, if you wanna fork out the bucks for a guitar instructor thats really good too.I would suggest finding someone that will help you learn music theory, scales, pentatonic scales, key signature. Most of all find a guy that is into helping you learn what you want to play. Not "Mary Had a Little Lamb" all flippin day.

You can go with the self taught route like I suggested in the beginning but it always helps to get some direction from an instructor or by just jamming with a friend.Remember that jamming other guitar players really helps!

  7. I finally started to enjoy my guitar playing after I gave up trying to learn pieces note for note.   The only really neat stuff to "learn" is moveable chord positions.    I don't even use those much though.  The thing is ....once you get a feel for where the next note you want is.......even if you're off a bit....you can slide into the right note and fake it...

Then you can sort of make up your own licks which if you keep playing licks ....it automatically turns into your improvised piece.

  8. First, buy an acoustic guitar. Why? It will require you to push the strings down harder so it will build up your finger strength and help your fingers get calluses. Go down to your local music store and ask an employee, "Can you help me find an acoustic guitar?" The employee will know what to do.

Then, once you find a guitar, ask the employee if the place offers private one-on-one guitar lessons. He or she will give you a number or two with names, and it's your responsibility to call them and ask if they have any openings.

If the music store doesn't offer lessons, ask the employee if he or she knows where lessons are offered.

But if lessons are absolutely out of the question for financial reasons, then I suggest cyberfret.com for online lessons. In fact, here's the page for you just in case (start with the first link):

  9. If you can't or don't want to do in person lessons, I highly recommend the book course called "Hal Leonard Guitar Method"

    http://www.amazon.com/Hal-Leonard-Guitar...

I tis not expensive - about the cost of one lesson - and is a great course.  Check out the reviews on Amazon.  Take it slow, don't get frustrated.

  10. My teacher made me start one string at a time. Starting from the high E

  11. If you cannot afford lessons (which is an obvious place to start), you can purchase a number of great instructional DVD's and books.  I highly recommend http://www.homespuntapes.com/.  (Look for Happy Traum's series.)

You probably want to start on an acoustic guitar even if you plan to play electric guitar in the future.  You will need to learn chords first - what you play in the background behind singers.  Then you can start to learn fill riffs, lead-ins, and tags.  And finally, you will learn to play solos.  Good luck - guitar playing is a wonderful experience.

  12. I started a little while ago to. Go throu the paper and find good guitar teachers. You could also try the yellow pages. Or start messing around with it and then just ask a friend that plays to help. Hope that helps!
