  1. If your debit card has a credit card logo on it (Visa, Mastercard etc.) then you will be able to use that as if it were a credit card to purchase something online.  If you purchase something using the credit option for your debit card it usually takes 3 or 4 days to be debited from your checking account rather than immediately if you were to use the debit function which requires you to input your PIN.

  2. You can. Your debit card is also a credit card. I use my debit card all the time, but occasionally I have to use it as a credit card. For example, yesterday I was taking a ferry. I gave the toll gate guy my card, and he gave me one of those screens to write my name on with the wand...so I knew it was a credit card transaction. Only when you use for four-digit pin number are you using it as a debit card. So go ahead and use it...it is routine to ask for the number on the signature line...I did recently in buying an airline ticket online.

  3. Your debit card needs to have a MasterCard or Visa symbol on your card for it to work online.  Talk to your bank about upgrading.    Both methods pin & signature will come out of your account.    Just a note, when you receive your pin number.  Never use this number online.   Just use the 3 digit code on the bank of your card for phone & web purchases.

The four digit pin is for use at atm and use at some point of sale terminals.
