I've done it the past few years- we set up an event tent in the back yard- have a bonfire and corn hole (nothing too fancy). There are usually about 80 people. We've done a clam bake, a hog roast, and a fish fry. I'm looking for a new and exciting idea/theme for our party! It will be held at the end of Sept./beginning of Oct. Something i can have catered... please let me know if you have any unique ideas!

  1. Get a catering company that has a smoker ... and do a Texas BBQ!  Smoked brisket and ribs, baked beans, coleslaw, mac & cheese, green salad, fruit salad....  Play country music or hire a square dance caller......

  2. If you are in so cal contact Headquarters BBQ they are the best and can make some great suggestions for a custom menu

  3. What about a Hawaiian theme, such as a Luau?  Get some tiki torches, hawaiian music in the background, get some "lei's" (not sure how it's spelled, but the flower necklaces thingee's!) make sure the caterer makes genuine Hawaiian food.

  4. Hmm...late September to early October. What does that remind me of? OKTOBERFEST!!!

You could do an Oktoberfest. Include multiple types of sausages, sauerkraut, and beer, if that's allowed. Of course, who wouldn't want to drink a coke out of a stein? Play polka music. Find some fake Leiderhosen. Should be a good time.
